In response to Typhoon Hato, a deadly storm that hit southern China earlier this week, Facebook has decided to activate its Safety Check feature to let users in the area inform their friends and family they're okay.

That's all fine and good — admirable, even — but there's just one problem: the feature appears to have been activated for people listing Beijing as their city of residence.

Shanghai too.

Aside from the fact that it wasn't typhooning at all in Beijing this week, the capital is also pretty far away from Hong Kong. 1,958 kilometers away, to be exact, according to recent data (AKA a Google search for "distance from Beijing to Hong Kong").
