11 Places to Drink Outside in Beijing

Beijing! Ye of smog and gales from Mongolia. Ye of winter coats and branded face masks. Awaken from your heavy slumbers. Rise from beneath your covers and switch off your air purifiers (momentarily). Summer calls ye to gird your livers.

Apologies if this isn’t proper usage of the word ‘ye.’ The point is: It’s warm out! Let’s drink outside! Here are some of our outdoor bars. Let the drinking commence.

Great Leap Brewing Original #6

201604/Great-Leap-6.jpgThis drinking spot is downright hallowed. Hutong rats and Sanlitun suits join forces here in the name of Great Leap’s original booze house.

Palms L.A. Kitchen and Bar

Palms’ location in Sanyuanqiao has a big courtyard with long tables, so it’s perfect for parties. See also: coconut margaritas.

Arrow Factory Taproom

Arrow Factory’s sexy new rooftop overlooks the Liangma River. It’s also the only rooftop we can think of that serves fish and chips.

MEI

The terrace at Rosewood Beijing’s MEI bar is as expansive as its cocktail menu. (Although you don’t need to look at the menu – just follow our advice and get the fruit Panjiayuan Bramble.)

Cafe Zarah

Zarah slays the courtyard-seating-area game. Although we also love sipping wine from the cushions on along Guloudong Dajie.

8-Bit

This Astroturf-covered hutong roof satisfies even the most hip of hutong hipsters.

El Nido

The Fangjia Hutong classic has shiny new taps of Belgian beers and crisp ciders.

Yin on 12

This classy rooftop overlooks Tiananmen Square. (Might we suggest taking Mom and Dad here when they visit?)

Hacker-Pschorr Brauhaus

201604/GermanBeer5.jpgHacker-Pschorr is like Heaven Supermarket (seriously, it’s just a few meters away), but with much better beer. Walk down the steps from Xindong lu and you’ll find this underground beer garden.

Tiago Home Kitchen

The Indigo Mall restaurant has launched its beer garden (although it has wine, too). Vibes of chill abound.

Migas

Duh. Do we have to tell you this? Migas’ rooftop opens April 22… and we’ll be there all summer.
