Ding ding! Seconds out for round two of Battle of the Chefs at JW Marriott's California Grill.

Early February saw 12 Marriott chefs from across Shanghai embroiled in an epic and appetizing battle in a refined and yet raucous atmosphere of the California Grill.

The second knockout event saw six rounds of cook-offs - with wine pairings for every course - exclusively tailored for 40 guests, with the experts using the same base ingredient - from Norwegian Salmon to King Crab, Black Cod to Iberian Pork and Beef to Seasonal Dessert - but letting their culinary creativity run away with it from there. The five tables then voted on their favorite for each round.

Highlights included Sarah Madigan of the Renaissance Shanghai CaoHeJing Hotel's King Crab - although it would have taken a brave table to vote against someone who claims to comes from 'Stab City' (Limerick in Ireland) and swaggered out with a huge knife in her hand - and Jeremy Harris of the Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Centre, who brought a little bit of the American Midwest to his Iberian pork by smoking it.

JW Chef’s Table is a themed dinner event held regularly at the JW's California Grill. The event comes with different concepts every time and aims to bring guests an indulgent gastronomic experience. The next one is scheduled for May 22 - we'll let you know the details on that as soon as we have them.
