Urban Café, the acclaimed all-day dining destination nestled within The Sukhothai Shanghai – a contemporary lifestyle hotel – has unveiled an enticing winter upgrade that transforms its space into a spacious and lush outdoor urban garden.

Renowned Thai Chef Anchalee Luadkham, hailing from Chiang Mai, introduces a curated selection of authentic northern and southern Thai delicacies, inviting patrons to explore the hidden flavors within the secret garden of Urban Café.

As winter descends upon Shanghai, Urban Café sets the stage for a vibrant Thai dining experience.

Chef Anchalee, born into a culinary family in Chiang Mai, brings a wealth of expertise gained from her stints at prestigious establishments such as the Mandarin Oriental Chiang Mai, Four Seasons Chiang Mai, and a boutique hotel in Switzerland.

Having catered to esteemed guests, including the Thai royal family and celebrities, Chef Anchalee showcases her unique interpretation of Thai cuisine, infusing Urban Café with a sophisticated and seasonal culinary flair.

The restaurant's interior exudes an elegant vibrancy, featuring green leaf-patterned tiles, terrazzo walls, and captivating urban Asian artwork.

The newly introduced garden terrace, adorned with lush foliage, provides an idyllic escape in the heart of downtown Shanghai, allowing diners to unwind amidst the vibrant neighborhood ambiance.

Chef Anchalee and her culinary team present a menu boasting over 40 delectable offerings, ranging from classic Thai appetizers to innovative main courses.

Signature dishes include the Thai royal family's timeless appetizer, a delightful combination of sour, sweet, and spicy flavors wrapped in betel leaves.

The Thai Stir-Fried Seafood, featuring wild ginger-infused ingredients, transports diners to the Huamum Night Market in southern Thailand with its aromatic essence.

A highlight of the menu is the Slow-Cooked Beef Kneecap in Masaman Curry, offering a melt-in-your-mouth experience, a true symphony of flavors.

The Tom Yum Seafood Soup, a star creation, tantalizes taste buds with its perfect blend of sourness and spiciness, featuring tender tiger prawns.

For a sweet conclusion, Urban Café presents an array of desserts, including Black Glutinous Rice Pudding enriched with longan, sweet coconut and anthocyanins (blue, red, or purple pigments found in plants – especially flowers, fruits, and tubers – that are commonly used for dying glutinous rice and other Thai dessert delicacies).

Guests can also savor sweet coconut milk sticky rice, coconut ice cream, or opt for a refreshing cocktail infused with gin, lime, basil, and lemongrass.

This holiday season, indulge in the winter magic at Urban Café, located on Level 1 of The Sukhothai Shanghai. For more information, visit sukhothai.com/shanghai/en.
