Arsham has achieve the elusive status of fashionista and influencer, lauded by publications such as Hypebeast, and teaming up with brands like Dior. His first show in China will show off some of his most iconic recent works.

Japanese artist Asami Kiyokawa creates works that combine paint, canvas and embroidery thread, and which have garnered her a large following in her home country. Grab your chance to get up close and personal with her works at Arario Gallery, and to admire the minute detail that she has woven into sensational depictions of the physical form of her plant-adorning subjects.

Until Jul 14, Arario Gallery.

This large-scale group exhibition includes over 40 artists’ views on the histories and principals of classical opera in European and Chinese cultures, applying the canon’s language to traditions and reimagining the theatrical practice through a variety of lenses. Moving between cities, Cui Jie, Robert Zhao Renhui, Lee Bul and Wang Wei are among the extensive list of artists who used their works to transform the space in Hong Kong’s Quarry Bay into a vibrant and pulsating urban jungle, before the show arrived in Shanghai, where Tang and Hsieh have helped to re-contextualize it by adding even more Chinese artists.

Until Aug 25, Rockbund Art Museum

I See You’re Making Progress – Ryan Gander Solo Exhibition

Catch this solo exhibition by British multi-discipline conceptual artist Ryan Gander before it closes this weekend. He puts the concept of continual progress, change and upward momentum into focus, as well as the unfortunate forces that prevent progress. The breadth of Gander’s daily inspiration is in evidence in pieces like ‘This is Creative Play, This involves some Risk Taking – Auto Abstraction,’ which sees the artist make use of children’s mathematical aids, devised by Maria Montessori, which encourages free associative play amongst visitors to the exhibition.

Until June 29, Lisson Gallery

Claude Monet New Impressionistic: The Track of Time Art Exhibition 3.0

This exhibition offers art lovers an extraordinary opportunity to be close to one of the greatest painters’ works in a modern, immersive way. Based on its original content, and utilizing a host of different technologies, the exhibition combines some of the latest techniques, such as 3D mapping, intelligent interactive devices and installation art to create an immersive art exhibition experience. There is also a special zone with cooperative copies authorized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and also includes a cooperation with a top international shadow design team to create a 5D shadow exhibition for its audiences. It also includes a small Monet exhibition for children.

Until Jun 30, Jing’an Sculpture Park. Tickets

Healthier, Simpler, Wiser – Group Exhibition

Also opening this weekend, Healthier, Simpler, Wiser brings together a trio of mid-career artists from the Southeast of China – Hu Xiangqian from Guangdong, Lai Chih-Sheng from Taipei and Kwan Sheung Chi from Hong Kong. Each of the artists will display one new work commissioned by the gallery, as well as a selection of recent works. Hu Xiangqian will strain against his nomadic lifestyle, building a house-like structure within the gallery, Lai Chih-Sheng will re-arrange the gallery’s rainpipes so that they converge in the center of the gallery, while Kwan Sheung Chi will put his ‘business’ trip in focus by partaking in an imaginary business trip in the city. Strange and intriguing stuff.

Until June 30, Edouard Malingue Gallery.
