Where to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Shanghai 2019

Cinco de Mayo falls on a Sunday this year, but no need to worry, because there are plenty of fiestas happening on Friday and Saturday in Shanghai that will keep you fired up and in a celebratory mood. Here's a roundup of all the joints you can go to for those tequila shots, tacos, Mariachis and much more to commemorate the Mexican army's victory at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Or just to get drunk, whichever you prefer! 

May 3

TY7 Bar

Have you ever wondered how many tacos you could eat in 10 minutes? Then sign up and compete for first place prizes including a bottle of tequila, free tacos and a trophy. The runner-up receives RMB100 as well as a trophy.

May 4

The Cactus

The Cactus is putting on some crazy food and drink deals on Saturday night to get you into the fiesta mode. Between 7pm-9pm there will be free drinks (yes, that's right, FREE!), RMB15 Tacos plus happy hour deals running all night long. They're spicing up the party as well with Lotería and Piñata games along with Mexican music and dancing.

Cantina Agave

Get those margaritas and sangrias down your throats as Cantina Agave are pricing them at RMB30 each plus RMB20 for Corona beers to get you feeling muy excellente. If you're hungry, there will be complimentary bites plus a wave of entertainment with tunes from DJ TK and face-painting.

Mayita

This top Mexican joint is back with another booming fiesta for Cinco de Mayo with a live mariachi band plus an awesome food and drink deal. Entrance price includes with six tickets (worth RMB25 each) good for churros, taquiza (taco buffet) and margaritas for RMB25.

Tacolicious

Tacolicious is starting off their celebrations with a Mexican party on Saturday where there will be a happy hour on drinks between noon-7pm and a DJ set on the terrace between 2-6pm.

Vue Bar

Hyatt on the Bund is putting on a glam Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Vue Bar on Saturday night. Expect Latin beats from guest DJ Tuto accompanied by a classic Mariachi band while you enjoy summery cocktails on the terrace. If you want to go fancier, there's a special champagne package where you and your guests will get three bottles of Mumm Champagne and one bottle of a house spirit for RMB2,888.

Cin Cin Cantina & Bar

If you manage to get off work on Sunday,  make sure to go to Cin Cin Cantina & Bar where they are holding an exciting Cinco De Mayo Fiesta with fantastic food and drink offers. You can indulge in six shots of Tequila Jose Cuervo for RMB60, buy cool Coronas or Asahi 33cl for RMB18, sip margaritas for RMB30 each and get some gin and tonic down you for RMB20. If you're feeling hungry, there are tacos for RMB15 each and quesadillas for RMB25. Definitely worth getting a hangover for!

Tacolicious

Sure it's a working day this week but Sundays are for brunch, so the good folks at Tacolicious are making sure you have your fill of midday tacos to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. This includes a free flow Olmeca margaritas, Mexican mules and beer for RMB150 and two brunch tacos for RMB40. Guest bartender, Nacho Del Toro will be mixing up specials from 2.30-7pm on the terrace. Speaking of drinks, you can get three tasty ones for RMB100 while enjoying a mariachi band and DJ.

Multiple days

El Santo

The hombres at El Santo are kicking off the fiesta early and long with a weekend filled with Latin beats, Mexican dancers and you guessed it, lots of tequila! DJs Charles n Tonic, Baksheesh and Naz will be playing the music on Friday and Saturday nights and The Colors of Mexico Dancers will perform on Saturday night at 7pm and Sunday afternoon during brunch at 2pm.

Pistolera (Jinqiao)

Pistolera's Jinqiao location has a full array of events planned for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, you can dive into an all-you-can-eat taco bar for RMB168 per person, and on both days you can enjoy fantastic drink specials. They include RMB150 for five Cuervo shots, RMB180 margarita pitchers and RMB45 on Dos Amigos Bombs.

Pistolera (Hengshan) and Pistolera (Jing'an)

The Hengshan and Jing'an branches of Pistolera are also hosting Cinco de Mayo fiesta with two days of music and drink offers. This includes five Jose Cuervo shots for RMB150, RMB180 margarita pitchers and RMB45 Dos Amigos Bombs. Plus you can also fill up your bellies at the taco bar on Saturday afternoon.

Tequila Loca

Tequila Loca is putting on an all day and all night two-day extravaganza. Expect lots of music, tacos, frozen margaritas, Coronas and those cheeky tequila shots. What's better, these food and drink items are all priced at RMB20 each to get you in the celebratory spirit fast.
