Brazilian forward Talisca snatched an injury time winner for Guangzhou Evergrande against Chinese Super League title-chasing rivals Beijing Guoan at Tianhe Stadium on Friday evening, setting up the most exciting title run in in recent memory.

Prior to the dramatic last gasp strike, both teams had had goals ruled out by VAR, while Beijing's Renato Augusto saw his penalty saved by Chinese national team goalkeeper Zeng Cheng.

The 1-0 victory meant Guangzhou leveled longtime league leaders Beijing on 45 points, but surpassed the capital team on a goal difference. Meanwhile, Shanghai SIPG leapfrogged Beijing into top spot after a 5-2 win at Tianjin Teda took them to 46 points, goals coming from CSL top scorer Wu Lei, Hulk, Elkeson and a brace from Oscar.

Seven-time CSL champions Guangzhou now play Shanghai SIPG at Shanghai Stadium at 7.35pm on Tuesday night, in a game rescheduled after being postponed due to a typhoon back in July.

With just one point separating the top three, the game in hand has huge implications on the outcome of the 2018 season.
