Ted Baker
If you’re after some dapper fashion creds this season, Ted Baker is your brand. The label’s winter 2013 collection is a neat display of prim and proper for both ladies and gentlemen, with some of the best high-street contemporary tailoring around. Paying tribute to the infinite cool of the 1930s, womenswear (RMB519-12,499) is awash with nostalgia and old-fashioned glamour and comes in a palette of soft nudes and natural hues juxtaposed with vivid reds, floral and prints. Classic yet thoroughly modern, it features luxurious knitwear, clean silhouettes and full-bodied lines. Men’s clothing (RMB379-8,699) is dapper and debonair, urban yet urbane. Mustards and muted teals sit elegantly alongside dark reds and purples, while Art Deco inspired jackets, smart trousers, tailored blazers and heavy woolen fabrics lend a sophisticated, gentrified feel to the entire range. Mothercare
With 52 years of history, UK retailer Mothercare is the ultimate pro when it comes to baby goods and maternity wear. The company – which already counts 55 shops across China – has recently opened its first flagship store in Shanghai, making the search for quality children’s clothes a whole lot easier. Bright and airy, the 500-square-meter space is divided into sections covering pretty much every aspect of motherhood from pregnancy to school time – spanning newborn, toddlers and maternity clothing as well as accessories, prams and toys. Starting from RMB200 up to RMB1,000, the latest kids’ 2013 fall/winter collection is a delightful assortment of playful outfits in eye-popping hues that draw inspiration from the circus and the far-away wonderlands. We particularly like the animal-inspired onesies. Pity they don’t come in adult sizes. TFZ

Torula bags
Big or small, bold or subtle, clutch or holdall – bags are the accessory of choice for most ladies. So it’s with a very merry heart that we welcome the arrival of Torula bags in China. First launched in 2008 as a small weekend project on London’s Portobello Market by self-taught Anglo-French designer Emeline Coates, over the span of only a few years the venture has turned into a thriving fashion label offering luxurious bags for everyday use. Churning out ultra-chic purses and retro-inspired messengers – all delicately crafted in Istanbul – Coates has perfected the art of the classic handbag. Each model – named after a London neighborhood or street like Chinatown, Columbia Road, Hyde Park and Bond Street – is a lavish treat of soft leather and deep, warm colors that make transitioning from day to night a total cinch. RMB1,048-1,887.

Regalo + Eco Shop
Regalo and Eco Shop are two ventures sharing the same closet-sized space on Anfu Lu. The former carries a slew of delicate jewelry, quirky accessories and cutesy trinkets, all personally sourced by owner Yiyi from across the globe and so reasonably priced, it’s hard not to end up with a new bauble in your pocket. A cluster of colored stone rings (RMB258) and hip round sunglasses (RMB128) were some of our favorite pieces, though we also fell hard for a selection of Somos Design’s tarpaulin bags (RMB140-300). In the other half of the store, Eco Shop showcases natural skincare products, candles and oils (RMB45-150) made by proprietor Jason with fresh base ingredients that smell divine – a whiff of an orange and cinnamon soap (RMB45) proved so good we almost ate the bar. Unpretentious and incredibly affordable, this is a sweet little shop full of funky gift ideas.
