On November 9, Reckitt Benckiser (RB) reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Tmall Global during a great signing ceremony at Alibaba's headquarters in Hangzhou.

The cooperation aims to build a big health strategy in China by bringing more quality and innovative products to China’s consumers. RB plans to use Alibaba’s big data to gain deep insight into health consumption trends in China and introduce newer, safer and more innovative products.

Established in 1814, RB is a leading manufacturer in home, health and hygiene products with operations in over 60 countries and sales in over 200. With its excellent innovation, RB’s brands and products have enjoyed a great reputation in many categories and many of the brands have already entered China’s market, including Schiff, Durex, Scholl, Dettol, Veet, Finish and Aerogard.

Schiff has a wide range of portfolio including Move Free, a joint health brand, MegaRed, a cardiovascular health brand, an immune system health brand and Digestive Advantage, a digestion health brand. Schiff, along with its sub-brands Move Free, MegaRed and Airborne, entered China’s market in 2016 through Tmall Global and have already become leading brands in the health categories of Tmall Global, winning a huge number of consumers. Since the introduction, Schiff and its sub-brands have achieved sales of over one million bottles via Tmall International.

Move Free has won great popularity in China and US. Created in the US with a factory in Salt Lake City, Utah, it has been a leading brand in joint health for many years. Move Free contains glucosamine, the main substance for reducing pain, increasing lubrication and protecting joint health. Since its introduction to Tmall in 2016, Move Free has become the #1 brand in the e-commerce site's joint health category.

The agreement not only indicates close agreement between Tmall and RB, but is also a reflection of confidence and determination in the future cooperation on both sides.

Nagarajan Hina, Senior Vice President and Regional Director RB North Asia, says that as China’s consumers are becoming more concerned about their health and turning to overseas brands, they need more high-quality options for health products.

Yi Qian, BD & KA Operation Director of Tmall Global says Tmall Global has many overseas brands, but the selection process is very strict to ensure that all products offered to consumers are of good quality and at a reasonable price range.

Tmall is China’s largest e-commerce platform and also a key business partner of RB. Under this partnership with Tmall Global on branding, marketing, new product introduction, big data and consumer experience, RB hopes to bring more brands, better quality products and improved health to Chinese consumers.

This year's Singles Day shopping festival was a huge success for Move Free, which ranked #3 in Tmall's health brands during the 24-hour e-commerce extravaganza — a solid reflection of Move Free’s leading market position in China. RF believes that its partnership with Tmall Global will be a further step in bringing better and healthier lifestyles to Chinese consumers.
