Al's Diner Unveils New Branch, with Chicken and Waffles

Well folks, it looks like Xiangyang Lu has a new sheriff... and you can call him Al.

That's right; hot on the heels of the new Al's Bakery at 174 Xiangyang Lu comes a new Al's Diner, situated just upstairs on the second floor. Yes, that's where The Public, our erstwhile favorite brunch place, used to be.

Much like the OG Al's, this new branch offers all-day breakfasts, elevated American diner classics – AND – an expanded menu with 18 never-before-seen menu items, six of which are exclusive to the Xiangyang Lu location for the time being.

These include chicken and waffles with maple syrup, crispy pork belly, and pulled pork eggs Benedict with sauces BBQ and Hollandaise (also available in veggie friendly portabello mushroom and spinach)

Also making an appearance is the evocatively named 'slap yo momma' Sriracha BBQ-glazed meatloaf with scallion mashed potatoes and green beans, and triple cheese mac, which you'll find at both locations.

Aside from x-treme comfort food, the new Al's also offers more refined dinner-focused dishes, to be paired with an expanded selection of wines and beers. Plus, you can totally finish your meal with cheesecake or apple pie (with Gracie's ice cream!) from the bakery downstairs.

The place is in soft opening as of today, and it sounds like we need to get over there STAT.
