Beijing Color Run - last week to sign up

Inspired by Holi and the various paint parties and mud runs that have become commonplace, the Color Run is a unique hybrid of running and painting, in the most unconventional of styles. Basically, you run 5 kilometers whilst having colored powder thrown at you at regular intervals and finish to a festival atmosphere and even more color.

Competitors should wear white clothes that they don’t mind getting funky colors on because by the time you’re finished, you’ll be looking like Disco Stu or Joseph with his technicolored raincoat. If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to get too much color on you, the middle lane is designated ‘low color’.

For those of you concerned about what chemicals will be entering your mouth, no fear, it’s cornstarch. Yum. Glasses however, might not be a bad idea.

The race aspect is a bit of a ruse as the organisers aimed to promote running as a route to health and happiness and as such it is untimed and open to all ages and abilities. Kids less than 1.2 meters can run with an adult for free and pushchairs and buggies are allowed.

Also, there are FREEBIES! Runners get a shirt, rub-on tattoo, a bag of Color, a sweat band and a wrist band, a raincoat AND sponsor goodies. Sweet! These can be picked up between 2 days before the event until the last wave of runners leave at around 4.30pm.

Last day to register is August 7, 3pm! - don't miss out on this messy medley known as 'The Happiest 5k on Earth.'
