The 2016 Budweiser Storm Music Festival has been announced and it’s now clear that last year’s expansion into Shenzhen was just the beginning.
Featuring a post-apocalyptic-esque new theme – The Impact – this year’s Storm Festival will be venturing to four new cities, including Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Xiamen.
The brainchild of Eric Zho, CEO of A2Live (the company behind Storm), Budweiser Storm Music Festival has enjoyed four years of success in Shanghai – earning praise for its innovative stage design and ability to lure in heavy-hitting international EDM performers.

Success in Shanghai brought the festival south last year, with organizers choosing Shenzhen as their first expansion location.
“We decided to make our expansion into Shenzhen mainly because of its close proximity to Hong Kong,” Zho told us last year. “Hong Kong has a more established relationship with electronic music.”
While it’s a bit unclear how successful last year’s Shenzhen expansion truly was, organizers are obviously optimistic about taking the festival to the next level.
A number of big name DJs have been announced, including Dash Berlin, Don Diablo, Flo Rida, Hardwell and Kaskade – no Afrojack so far, we’re pretty confident he has been blacklisted after canceling his performance 24 hours before hitting the stage last year in Shenzhen.

Beijing: September 15-16
Chengdu: July 2-3
Guangzhou: September 10-11
