Big trouble in little Cairo - The latest Kung Fu Komedy podcast

So many "China podcasts" are just that - about Chinese history, politics or other, similarly wonky subjects. Not that there's anything wrong with that (we love us some history) but, sometimes, we yearn for the lighter side of China - and now, Kung Fu Komedy has delivered.

The "Stuck in the Middle" podcast has just released its 14th episode, an interview with Egyptian stand-up Mohammed Magdi, and it has everything we could ask for - Putin, foot massages, shady English teaching gigs and so much more. Listen below, and be sure to check out Mohammed when he headlines at Kung Fu Komedy this Saturday (info here).

And a bit of background, courtesy of Kung Fu Komedy: Mohammed Magdi is an Egyptian stand-up comic living in Shanghai. In 2012, he was living in Cairo and things started to get messy. A chain of events forced him to leave and he wound up teaching English to Chinese students in the city of Changchun, Jilin province. This is a story about an old city and arguably the most significant event in the last few hundred years.

Every week, Andy Curtain tracks down the most interesting person he can find and asks them what they're doing in China. To subscribe, add the Stuck in the Middle podcast on iTunes, or copy this link to use in your favorite podcatcher app.
