Put together a simple game, ridiculous costumes, hyperbolic stage antics, haphazard judging, and booze-fueled madness, and it makes for an amazing evening. Whether veteran local musicians or wannabes, it's a must-see for fans of rock n' roll theatrics.

With both prepared and surprise songs, contestants give their best finger-taps, wammy-bar cranks, knee-dives, and head-banging performances. The judges then give their scores. After 3 rounds, we got an ultimate Shanghai air guitar champ for the year.

This year, proceeds benefit Project Borneo, a Malaysian conservation organization and UK-based charity. Their focus is helping orangutans on one of the most diverse wildlife islands on the planet. Much of their previous fundraising was tourist based, so these good guys are in real need this year. A percentage of money from bar sales, the host's fee, and any donations at the event, will all go to Project Borneo.
