The BLOCK Description

The debut of The BLOCK took place in May at the Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai.   The BLOCK – Butcher Shop at Kerry Hotel is located on the second floor of the hotel, adjacent to The MEAT, the hotel’s steakhouse and grill, with direct access from the Kerry Parkside shopping mall. The butcher shop is not only an extension of The MEAT, which has established a reputation for its meat in the past two years, but it now offers the local community the hotel’s meat and seafood quality to take home. The mission of The BLOCK is to uphold the high quality food standard at a reasonable price and it will offer a selection of beef, pork, lamb and fresh seafood.     Kerry Hotel Pudong will be the first hotel in the city to open a butcher shop, adding another first in a long list for the Kerry Hotel. In addition to The BLOCK, Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai has pioneered several initiatives in a hotel in Shanghai.  It was the first hotel in the city to implement a paperless check-in and check-out system and to provide a complimentary minibar in all guestrooms.  It opened the city’s first craft brewery (The BREW) and meat aging room (The MEAT) in a hotel, and the first restaurant (The COOK) to offer an à la buffet concept (all dishes on the buffet are made to order) and a cheese vault.  The hotel was also the first (and remains the only hotel) in the city to offer an “Iron Man” zone, which allows triathletes to complete their training needs in one place, and the first to implement a supervised indoor children’s playground – the Adventure Zone.  Kerry Ice, the first outdoor ice rink in Shanghai’s hotels, debuted last winter.
