This beloved Shanghainese restaurant might look inconspicuous, but it has folks lining up for a bite of their jijiang gu (sweet soy-sauce chicken, 鸡酱骨), wine-flavored clover blossom (jiuxiang caotou, 酒香草头) or salt and pepper fried fish filets (jiaoyan paitiao, 椒盐排条).
More recently, the restaurant has moved from its compact original location on Songshan Lu to a roomier spot near People's Square. Luckily all the classic menu items have survived the move. Expect a bit of a wait if dining during peak times.
