Shanghai has its fair share of Hong Kong style diners, but Xiangjiang Garden (香讲姳苑) is about as traditional Hong Kong as you can get – right down to the neon fluorescent lighting, 24/7 packed booths and gruff service. The nostalgia-inducing food includes rice rolls drizzled in drippy peanut butter, sesame paste and a sweet bean sauce, braised beef brisket with tendon, Hong Kong-style French toast, and fried or scrambled eggs with your choice of meat topping. They also do a killer selection of congees in the AM and an afternoon tea set from 2-5pm daily.
