On August 28, 1985, Garden Hotel Guangzhou officially opened its doors to the world. As the only national hotel brand among China's first batch of Platinum Five-Star hotels, the hotel has been blessed with a rich history from the very beginning. It received a solid foundation stone laid by former President Yang Shangkun, which symbolizes everlasting strength. Former Chinese President Deng Xiaoping personally inscribed "花园酒店" ("Garden Hotel") in bold strokes, gilding the passage of time. World-renowned architect I. M. Pei's design sketches contributed to the grand vision, piece by piece.
