Hot on Taobao: Smartphone Gaming Keyboard

Hot on Taobao is a monthly segment where we feature a product from Taobao our editors think is cool.

Online gaming is everywhere in China. You can’t walk 100 meters without seeing someone’s face buried in their phone, drool dripping down their chin as they duke it out in the virtual world (probably playing Playerunknown's Battlegrounds).

While Internet cafes have long been the go-to spot for PC-based digital world adventures, this product on Taobao is vying for a share of the market.

With the rapid adoption of the smartphone, we assumed our tech-savvy generation was set to abandon the archaic keyboard and mouse. We were wrong.

This month we have a two-in-one product that will leave you scratching your head. The GamWing-P10 by Beibeijia aims to offer you the classic desktop computer vibe with your 6-inch smartphone.

This specific product – which is being sold on Taobao under a moniker that roughly translates as ‘Eat Chicken Magical Device’ – went online in the beginning of July and has already garnered over 2,000 reviews, almost all by satisfied customers, leading to a 4.7 out of 5 star rating. Like with most Taobao products, you have quite a few package options to choose from. Some sets come with only a mini-keyboard, powerbank and mouse while others include the whole nine-yards (read: a full-fledged keyboard!).

Although virtually all the reviews are for the Android-based device, the bulky gadget is compatible with Apple products as well.

So, if you’re tired of losing games due to your clumsy thumbs, this simple, old-school hack will put you on the top of the leaderboards.

The Smartphone Eat Chicken Magical Device is available for RMB269-569 on Tmall.
