Starbucks recently announced the launch of Starbucks Reserve Whisky Barrel-Aged Coffee in China, with six innovative drinks introduced at Starbucks Reserve Roastery Shanghai. Now, some of those exciting new products are available at designated Reserve stores in 13 cities nationwide, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Xi’an.
With nearly 50 years of roasting expertise, Starbucks has successfully applied traditional whiskey barrel aging techniques and developed a method allowing coffee to evenly absorb the whiskey flavor without the alcohol, offering a one-of-a-kind Starbucks experience. Over the past 20 years, Starbucks China has remained dedicated to its continuous pursuit of innovation. The new concept in specialty coffee provides an unprecedented coffee flavor, advancing the barrel aging trend in the coffee industry.

For these specialty products, Starbucks places small batch, high-quality single-origin coffee beans in oak barrels filled with American favorite, bourbon whiskey. A ‘golden combination’ was formulated after years of experimentation, and this new process balances the whiskey aroma and coffee flavor for an ultimate drinking experience.
