OCT Hotels Ranks Among Top 60 China Hotel Groups 2018

From June 28 to 29, the 16th China Hotel Collectivization Forum was held by China Tourist Hotels Association in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. Yu Zhiguo, party member and deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Tang Wenjian, president of the China Tourist Hotel Association (CTHA) attended and addressed the forum. Other participants included renowned economists, investors of tourist hotel and management groups and hotel groups, and representatives from tourism colleges, tourism-related associations and hotel-related technology sectors. The forum facilitated in-depth discussions on China’s hotel collectivization and announced the widely-anticipated Top 60 China Hotel Groups 2018 list. The Top 60 China Hotel Groups 2018 list (meaning the top 60 largest hotel groups in China) has been ranked according to room numbers on the basis of the Statistics on the Operation of China Hotels Management Companies (Groups) in 2018 conducted by CTHA. The statistics include registered hotel management companies (groups) engaged in hotel management operation within the territory of the PRC, which have signed formal management contracts and commenced operation as of December 31, 2018. Hotels of hotel groups with entrusted management, franchising, investment and management, as well as lease and management in China are included, while hotels managed by consultants or consultative management and hotels not owned but entrusted to other enterprises for management or under ‘brands’ of other enterprises are excluded.

Zhang Rungang, vice president and secretary-general of the China Tourism Association, briefed the 2018 Annual Development Report on China Hotel Management Companies (Groups) to all participants. He stated that in the past year hotel groups in China have maintained rapid growth, strong momentum and have kept expanding scale. During the forum, participants delivered speeches around four keynote topics and attended four round-tables on different themes. Professor Zhang Weiying, Boya Chair professor of economics from National School of Development, Peking University, led a discussion on China-US trade conflicts and key industry participants also shared reflections on hot issues in the industry.
