Demolition on Shenzhen’s huge Huangmugang Interchange will begin today as local authorities begin construction on Shenzhen Metro Line 14 and a new transport corridor connecting Futian District with Pingshan District.
Roads in the Huangmugang vicinity will be closed from January 29 until February 17, with city officials choosing to undertake the massive project while road traffic is low during Spring Festival. The Huangmugang Interchange reaching to Nigang Lu, Huafu Lu, Sungang Xilu and parts of Huaqianbei Lu will all be closed during this period of time.

Of the 54 bus routes that use Huangmugang Interchange, each of them will be diverted to another route. Metro Line 7, on which the Huangmugang Station is located, will continue to operate as normal.
Following the demolition, construction will begin on the Huangmugang Comprehensive Transportation Hub, with a new bridge road and adjoining directional roads given priority. Thirty-seven bus routes will remain diverted and sections of Huaqiangbei Lu will remain closed.
Shenzhen Metro Line 14 is set to connect Gangxia Bei Station with Pingshan District in just 45 minutes. Currently Pingshan, to the east of Longgang and the north of Yantian, is not served by any metro line. Further plans for Line 14 to reach South Huizhou are also being discussed.
Both Line 14 and a new Huangmugang Comprehensive Transportation Hub are set to open in 2022.
