Feb 8: Kettama

House artist Kettama first made waves with viral Youtube hit '3am' (above). He's supported acts such as X-Coast and DJ Seinfeld, and contributed to a sold-out show at Irish nightclub Shine. Now he's on a China tour, headlining a Shenzhen show alongside DJs Ero404, Zihan Wang and Lemonäde. Call 186 1715 0566 to RSVP.

Feb 8-25: Watch the Winter Olympics at George & Dragon

Starting this week, visit George & Dragon to keep on top of this near-historic event. Athletes from both Koreas will march under the same flag at the opening ceremony on Thursday, kicking off three weeks of world-class athletic feats.

Feb 9: National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine: Laputa-Castle in the Sky

One of the finest symphony orchestras in Eastern Europe delights with this multimedia concert featuring songs from Studio Ghibli animated classics – including the eponymous Laputa: Castle in the Sky, as well as Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away. Fans and families won't want to miss this entertaining night with some of our favorite characters.

Feb 9: RMSZ Presents Rock & Metal Night Vol. 4

Mixes from DJs Leinad, Ivan Soto and Leguy will greet you at this unique musical event in Shenzhen. In a semi-hidden space within a Shekou cocktail bar, drink and dance to the sounds of hard rock and metal all night long. For inquiries, contact Ricardo at WeChat ID 'sassaman.'

Feb 9: Kris Kross Amsterdam

The three-man DJ collective, named in honor of the ’90s rap duo, bring their Dutch sound to the late night hours of bbR’s Club Night. With an eclectic mix of R&B, hip hop, trap and house from across the eras, the trio have sold out the biggest clubs in Amsterdam. Now they bring their interactive performance to our humble city.

Feb 10: ZIP Improv Comedy Show

Feb 10: Singles Party at Coka Family

During this time of romance, Crafty Events is putting together a world of entertainment for singles in Shenzhen. You don’t need to be unattached to attend, but guests will assume you are and might cover you in romantic sticky notes or ‘peg’ you while enjoying Love Potion cocktails. Blind date games and best dressed competitions let everyone have a bit of fun and revel in their uncommitted status.

Feb 10-11: Hapkido Seminar by Great Grand Master Choi

The Hapkido Association of China hosts Great Grand Master Choi, 9th Degree Black Belt with the International Hapkido Federation and 8th Degree Black Belt in the Sword Art of Korean Gumdo. This is a class for both beginners as well as advanced students in Hapkido. Taekwondo students, as well as practitioners from other martial arts, are welcome. Ongoing: The Wisdom of Achieving Inner Peace

Find your inner calm as you contemplate more than 100 ancient Guanyin statues and paintings, on loan from Beijing’s Capital Museum. Perched on her lotus and wearing flowing robes, the Buddhist bodhisattva of compassion beams with a serenity that has endured through the ages. Visit for a peek at early porcelain of the Song and Yuan dynasties, tracing the connections from the icon’s journey through India and Nepal.

Savor a visit to Marije Vogelzang’s first solo exhibition in China as she explores the power of food to shape every aspect of our existence. “Food will enter our stomachs,” she explains, “but it will also activate our brains and evoke intense memories and emotions.” In 14 videos, design works, and interactive installations (like a ‘Pasta Sauna’), stimulate your senses and arouse a new awareness of how deeply food penetrates our lives.
