March 8: Fathoms

If singing syrupy pop ballads at the KTV isn't your thing, why not go to a performance by this UK metalcore band? The 'non stop brutality' of their songs may discourage some, but fans of the genre are sure to get a kick out of this concert.

March 9: Macbeth

macbeth-shenzhen-whats-upYou probably haven't seen the Shakespearean classic performed like this before, with one man playing each of the story's most iconic roles: the murderous Macbeths as well as the three witches. It's a fresh, individual take on an old tale of ambition, intrigue and the dark depths of the human soul.

March 9: Braids

The sound of this Canadian experimental pop trio combines female vocals with drums and 'tasteful electronics.' Formed in 2007, Braids has since released three albums. The last one, Deep in the Iris, won a Juno Award.

March 10: Nakadia X Katze at Pepper

Nakadia X Katze poster for PEPPERTwo female DJs will be taking over Pepper Club this Friday night. There's Nakadia, who grew up in a Thai village and went on to play at clubs all across the world. She's joined by Katze, a 'Russian-born, China-raised techno chick' who takes her sets just as seriously.

March 10: Dizzy Dizzo at Dazzle Club

Despite her youthful appearance, singer and DJ Dizzy Dizzo has several years of experience under her belt. Her new album showcases influences that range from hip hop to underground indie music. To get into the event for free, come early (before 10pm) or show a college student ID.

March 10: MUST D!E at Sector Club

must-die-sector.jpegPrepare yourself for the act that is MUST D!E: a 21-year-old American DJ who specializes in electronic dance music. He's original, with tracks that are 'reminiscent of being lost in an 8-bit jungle with a high-grade fever while eating sour candy.'

March 11: Talks for Expectant Parents

4.jpgA group of experts will be giving talks aimed at expectant parents. A brief summary of what will be covered: how to better understand your unborn baby, an explanation of doula-assisted childbirth and finally, tips for 'bringing baby home.' The first 100 to sign up get in free, so be sure to call the number listed here.

March 11: Urbanites Kitchen French Cooking Class

Urbanites cooking classHave a kid? Like dessert? Combine some of your favorite things in the world with this French cooking class at L'étoile. Children will learn how to make cream puffs and madeleines, then enjoy the fruits of their labor. The event is sure to provide great (and delicious) fun for the whole family.

March 11: Felix Da Housecat at Pepper

Felix-Da-Housecat.jpgChicago native Felix Da Housecat has worked with the likes of P. Diddy, and has been featured in the pages of Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly. He's also been nominated for a Grammy twice. Check him out at Pepper Club this Saturday night.

March 11: Shady Monkey 3rd Year Anniversary Party
