Super mega pop star Katy Perry will take to the stage in Shenzhen on November 10, reports CRI

Her performance is part of a gala being sponsored by Alibaba’s Tmall shopping website to promote the November 11 Singles' Day. A day when men and women use Tmall in an attempt to buy their way out of the gnawing loneliness that defines their lives.

It took Alibaba eight minutes to make a billion dollars through Singles' Day promotions in 2015, according to CNBC, hitting total sales of USD14.3 billion, USD5 billion more than in 2014.

Perry will perform hit song ‘Rise’ during the show, which is also part of Alibaba’s bid to popularize the online shopping extravaganza outside of China. No doubt Alibaba hopes that this year sales will continue to, well, go up.

Perry, also known as 'Fruit Sister' for her propensity to make use of giant fruit props, last graced the Middle Kingdom in 2015 with her Prismatic World Tour, hitting Guangzhou and Shanghai.
