Founded in Aoyama's Antique Road back in 1990, agete, an established name in Japan's fashion jewellery market, held a limited-time exhibition of their 2021 winter collection in its Shanghai Xintiandi flagship store. Embracing the theme of Quiet Forest, the exhibition took visitors along an imaginative, romantic and elegant journey.

The new jewellery series, agete sought inspiration from the character of natural rough stone, blending it with their iconic “retro-modern” style. Guests were invited to participate in a series of interactive and immersive activities which involved the use of their five senses, amidst the beauty of sparking lights.

“Exploring the Forest” — Walk through the wintry urban forest and appreciate the unique charm of coloured gemstones.
A rare snowfall in early winter! The store was set up as a deep snow-capped forest, a unique backdrop for admiring the beauty of the stones, taking in the charm of the jewellery, and partaking in a splendid audio-visual feast.

The Pearl series was inspired by “Winter Snow”. The South Sea pearls glow in the evening light, the freshwater pearls resemble snowflakes, and the K-gold decorations are carved with classical plant patterns, sparkling in the dark winter night… a touch of luxury.

The Opal series was inspired by the “Winter Aurora”. Like the fascinating aurora borealis, the blue mother opal rock exudes a dreamy, colorful light. This large, rare gem is fragile, requiring great care when being mined.

The rowan tree-inspired line is agete’s most anticipated finale. The collection features stunning limited editions: a two-toned gold and silver pearl-studded watch, an earring set as dainty as snowflakes, a ring set featuring a variety of gemstones, and a necklace in the shape of a rowan tree.

“Smell the fragrance and choose the stone”Choose your jewellery through fragrance.

Another highlight of Quiet Forest was the “Smell the Fragrance and Choose the Stone” feature. A variety of scented candles allowed visitors to pinpoint their favourite gemstones by smell alone. The dewy and nourishing amber scent corresponds to the amber gemstone series, a stone symbolically linked to the protection of women; the pure, fragrant scent of verbena transports us to a relaxing forest setting, embodying the cool-toned gemstone series (diamonds, kyanite, etc); the sweet scent of fruity berries personify the warm-toned gemstone series (moonstone, light chalcedony, etc). The new experience of choosing a stone through scent opens up a whole new world.

“Beautiful Jewellery” — Wear agete’s new winter jewellery, and show off those gems.

The final part of the exhibition invited visitors to wear their favourite jewellery and capture the moment against the wintry backdrop of the Quiet Forest display.

Through the beauty of natural stone and the emotions they stir up, Quiet Forest delivered on its promise to awaken the five senses by letting guests experience, choose and wear their preferred jewellery, allowing them the luxury of creating their own style.
