May 21: Tuesday Night Camel Pub Quiz

Hosted by That's Shanghai's very own Ned Kelly, this weekly pub quiz takes you through ten rounds covering everything from current events, history, music, film and more. Meals are two-for-one and it is happy hour all night. Starts 8pm and it is all wrapped up by 10.30pm so everyone can be fresh at work the next day.

May 22-23: The Jesus and Mary Chain Live in Shanghai

One of the most hotly anticipated gigs of the year and it’s… sold out. But, if you managed to grab a ticket, rejoice! Since their long-awaited reunion in 2007, The Jesus and Mary Chain have released several greatest hits compilations, as well as a new studio album Damage and Joy. The alt-rock band continues to shake up the music scene and will play across China for the first time in seven years this month.

May 23: Sophie Zelmani Live in Shanghai

Swedish singer/songwriter Sophie Zelmani lands in Shanghai this spring as part of her Sunrise Tour. Since the release of her self-titled debut album in 1995, audiences around the globe have lauded Zelmani's whispery folk-pop songs about life and love. She'll be performing the heartwarming classics along with new hits from her 2017 album My Song at Modern Sky Lab this weekend.

May 23: TechNode Emerge Tech Conference

May 24: Mamahuhu pres. Friday Night with Friends

May 24-26: FEAST Food Festival 2019

May 25: Cyrano de Bergerac (French w/ Chinese Captions)

This French-language film is based on the life of the famous French novelist and playwright, Cyrano de Bergerac (famously brought to life by Steve Martin in Roxanne) who is possessed of a very large nose. Despite Cyrano’s brashness, his self-consciousness gets in the way as he pursues love. Enjoy one of the most famous dramatic representations of reckless courage and debilitating shyness, in the form of de Bergerac’s life story this weekend.

May 25-26: Goose Island BooshKaBaash Music Festival

Looking for a boozy and fun weekend? Goose Island have you covered. Head over to Shanghai Center Plaza and experience Goose Island’s double decker bus or make some new friends over a game of Jenga. Man bun owners can also donate their hair for a worthy cause, while if you’re quite up for that, you can make a contribution by plogging (jogging and picking up litter en-route.) There will also be booze – lots of booze.

With albums like Down the Way and their self-titled third album still in heavy rotation among lovelorn romantics, the pair arrive in Shanghai this weekend to play what we can only imagine will be an awesome set.
