Shanghai sports friends, here we go again. The Camel and That’s Shanghai 9th Annual Sports Awards will take place on February 21. Once a year, we gather to recognize those who have truly made their mark on the city’s amateur sports scene: from the home-run hitters and KO punchers, to those who lift up their mates when all seems lost. They’re our friends, our family and, occasionally, our blood-thirsty rivals.

There are 16 awards across six categories in the general selection, plus three Under 18s categories with 12 awards to be won, with big prizes from F45 and REVO up for grabs. There will also be a raffle fundraiser on the night, with all money raised from that going to the Baobei Foundation.

And now, without further ado, here are the nominations for Lifetime Achievement:

Shanghai Softball - BT & Dan

The Cages guys have been a mainstay of the Shanghai sports scene for years, making sure that every sports fan and athlete has a home for watching and playing their favorite sports, no matter what time of day or night (or early morning!). Over the years, they’ve also contributed over 350,000 RMB in sponsorships for countless sports teams, as well as raising over 150,000 RMB for local charity organizations. The Shanghai sports landscape would be a very different place without their hard work and selfless support.

Women’s Football (SWIFC) - Emily Zurrer

She played soccer professionally in Germany, Sweden, and the USA while being a captain of her Swedish Damallsvenskan team, Jitex BK.

SRFC - Caleb

Caleb “I take scalps for fun.” Balloch joined SRFC in 2010, with great passion for Rugby. His determination to thrive, his strength and leadership on the field and attitude towards to sport, resulted in him becoming he Captain of Shanghai Silver Dragons in 2017 after years of service..
