Remember the first snow of the year? Well, it seems like we are likely to experience it all over again... and soon. According to NetEase, a blast of glacial air has arrived in Shanghai and it may very well bring snowy weather this weekend.

You might have noticed that the temperature already took a nosedive over the past 24 hours. To make things worse, the mercury will keep dropping over the next few days. On Friday, the lowest temperature is expected to descend to minus 1 degree Celsius (30.2 degrees Fahrenheit).

On Sunday December 30, the first day of the New Year's holiday, rain and sleet are predicted for most areas in Shanghai. As is reported by the The Weather Channel, the cold front won't loosen its grip on us until next Thursday. Here's a glimpse of the weather forecast for the following days:

Even though we are bound to have a bone-chilling New Year's holiday, don't feel bummed. According to an ancient Chinese proverb, 'a timely snow promises a fruitful year.' In other words, this weekend's snowfall may grant us great fortune for the coming year. Meanwhile, you can refer to our NYE guide and find out how to usher in 2019.
