Jinshan City Beach will be closed for at least two weeks after sustaining some pretty serious damage from Typhoon Yagi – the third typhoon in one month to impact Shanghai and its surrounding areas.

On Monday, the beach area was smacked with heavy winds, rains and rising sea levels. The storm surge ultimately caused the water to rise over the levees. According to The Paper, roughly 90 percent of the beach's structures and facilities were damaged by the storm.

Jinshan City Beach will be temporarily closed while workers and business owners clean up trash and debris from the beach and repair facilities. However, the cleanup process may take longer depending on the extent of the damage.

Visitors are urged to call before attempting to visit the beach.
