May 4: Zuckermann: Stranger in the Night
China-based DJ Zuckermann, also known as Stranger in the Night, has had a long career spinning experimental house and techno. Check out his set of ambient and "dub-techno" tracks for free at this Thursday night show at Smash.

May 5: Outlook Festival Launch with Stray
Major
European electronic music festival Outlook is conducting an expansive
worldwide tour of “launch parties” to promote their event in Croatia.
Shanghai’s party takes place at Dada with a headline set by London drum
& bass producer Stray. A strong supporting line-up features Conrank,
Arkaik, Siesta and Oshi.
May 5, 10pm-late. Dada.
May 5: Hollywood Club Reopening
Like a strung-out phoenix with a penchant for vodka Red Bull, classic Shanghai afterhours club Hollywood rises again in its original location after more than a year under the Lola nightclub brand. Expect the party to go until morning.
May 5, 10pm-late. No cover before 1am for men, 3am for women; after that, RMB100 including a drink. Hollywood.
May 5: DJ Mykris
Progressive
house DJ Mykris comes to Shanghai for a set at M1NT. Originally from
Spain, he's a resident DJ at Ultra Music Festival (which is debuting in
Shanghai this fall) and recently told That's Shenzhen that he'd rather
wrestle a grizzly bear than become Trump's personal DJ. See That's

May 5: Brews & Beats
XO Wine Bar, the brick-and-mortar venture from wine delivery service Bottles XO, expands its repertoire to include over 20 craft beers. Head to this menu launch party for a free German weiss beer on arrival and beats by UHHH.

May 5: Cinco De Mayo

May 5: Dope Sessions with Popasuda
Shanghai's resident purveyor of global bass plays a set of reggae and dancehall at Dope Shifu. Expect chill vibes, cheap drinks and potentially some conga drums.

May 5: DJ Lady S
DJ Lady S arrives from Europe for a set at Monkey Champagne from Hip-Hop Hijack. J B-Kut and DJ Kommi on support duty. RMB100 gets you two free drinks, or you can email guestlist@hiphop-hijack.com for RMB50 entry with one free drink.

May 6: Mantis
Originally from South Africa, Mantis is now based out ofShenzhen and has been DJing techno in China for eight years. Celia residents Emil Chang and Jasmine Li provide support.

May 6: The Cannery Bloc Party
The
weather is finally nice enough for outdoor events, and The Cannery
takes advantage by reinstating their weekend Bloc Party. Head to the
restaurant for an outdoor bar and BBQ, Boxing Cat beers and a
(dog-friendly) party atmosphere.
