Air purifiers sold on the Chinese market are having some major issues.
In fact, almost half of Shanghai-made machines have defects, and at least one out of every four purifiers sold in China are not up to standard according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China or AQSIQ.
Problems with the purifiers vary however, depending on brand. According to The Nanfang, purifiers created by Baomi Information Science and Technology had issues with noise problems, while the electrical parts on Novowater’s air cleaning devices were not properly protected. Mitsubishi-made purifiers did not have acceptable formaldehyde purification, while both ReFinAIR and Somputon have issues with the noise and continuous disturbance voltage.
Last year's big scandal was over Xiaomi purifiers, which had a handful of severe issues, as reported by the Shanghai Quality Inspection and Supervision Bureau.
