Heading out to play tourist in Shanghai?
Well now you can check the weather before you go! (Because that's something that's reliable).
Yesterday a new tourism meteorological center launched, which says that it will relay site-specific weather forecasts for 17 scenic spots in the city.
According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, Shanghai's meteorological conditions are "complex", and "it is quite common for it to be sunny on the east side when it is raining on the west side." (Or just be completely the opposite from what our weather apps read).
But now, just by following the Shanghai government's official WeChat account, you'll be able to get site-specific readings for some of your favorites, such as: Jinshan City Beach, Shanghai Wildlife Park, Dongping Forest Park and Zhujiajiao Water Town. Weather readings will also be available on 'hundreds of tourism info multimedia touch screens located at hotels and other sites around the city.'
Times, they are a'changin'... but at least we'll now be prepared when the weather makes a move.
