Tickets for Shanghai Disney Resort went on sale at midnight today, and in a preview of what's to come this summer, the website crashed within minutes of opening ticket sales to the public.

Shanghai Disney Site Crashes After Tickets Go on Sale

According to QQ News, the site was virtually inaccessible as tickets went on sale and repeatedly displayed error messages as the frenzy began. By 12:20 am, tickets for opening day had completely sold out.

Park entrance tickets weren't the only thing snapped up by eager Disney fans — hotel rooms were also sold out across the board. Third party platforms like Ctrip which offered reservations for Disney Resort hotel rooms were also totally booked out within an hour.

Shanghai Disney Resort will open on June 16, with ticket prices ranging from RMB370-499. During the grand opening period (June 16-30), tickets will be priced at RMB499 per person. Over that two week period, the park's first ever tourists will be greeted with a “magical" grand opening.

Discounts are available for kids (height between 1-1.4m), senior citizens (above 65 years old) and disabled visitors, who will all be eligible for 25 percent off (RMB280 on weekdays and RMB375 during peak period).

Visitors who purchase a two-day ticket will receive a 5 percent discount.

Each ticket allows full day access to all the entertainment facilities, shows and performances, except from the first-ever Mandarin stage production of the Broadway hit "Lion King," located in Disneytown.

Order tickets from the official website: www.shanghaidisneyresort.com. You can also make reservations by calling 400-180-0000 or 86-21-31580000. Ticket buyers must provide an ID upon park admission, and the original purchaser must be present at the time of admission. You can change the date you select for admission up to 48 hours in advance of entry.

Be noted that each guest will be able to buy as many as five tickets each order and that more ticket channels, including an official Shanghai Disney Resort App, are expected to come out very soon.

And of course, be prepared for "people mountain people sea" (AKA huge crowds) at the main park ticket booths as well.
