Shanghai is expected to get its first snowfall next week as temperatures plummet to as low as -6 degrees.
QQ News reports that the city will get its first snowfall of the season next Thursday, January 21. While snow in Shanghai isn't unheard of, snowfall in January is pretty uncommon. The first snowfalls of 2013 and 2014 happened in early February.

Meanwhile, Shanghai's smoggy season is in full gear as the city issued another yellow alert yesterday. The air quality index (AQI) rose to 225 in the downtown area, according to Shanghai Daily. It was the city's second yellow alert this month.
