There’s going to be an onslaught of chart-topping acts rolling through Shanghai the next few months with Maroon 5, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams and Muse all announcing shows. Recent Grammy Award winners Imagine Dragons are now getting into the act, bringing their Smoke + Mirrors tour to Shanghai Grand Stage on August 19. The Las Vegas by way of Utah group forged their sound playing hours-long sets rocking Sin City’s casinos. They rocketed to fame with their debut album, Night Visions. Released in 2012, it produced the mega-hit ‘Radioactive,’ which arguably today’s best rapper Kendrick Lamar hopped on for a remix.
The group has followed it up with this year’s Smoke + Mirrors. The disc topped the charts when it was released in February and shows the group moving towards a more anthemic sound while retaining their trademark bombast. In recent years, they’ve won praise as one of the most exciting new live acts and they will be embarking on their first Asian tour, organized by Live Nation.
