July 11 will see Redtory launch the second phase of The Persistence of Images – Chinese Contemporary Photographic Exhibition.

Hosted by Redtory, curated and academically supported respectively by Wang Chuan, associate professor and photographer from China Central Academy of Fine Arts, and famous art critic Lu Mingjun, the exhibition is themed around history, time, urban memory and daily life. The display reflects and experiments with different aspects of photography as an art medium.

Planned to span three seasons, the exhibition features works from 12 artists: Wong Naiqiang, Zhang Dali, Ji Zhou, Feng Yan, Zhang Chaoyin, Ta Ke, Yao Lu, Hong Hao, Feng Mengbo, Zhang Bo, Liu Zhen and Lu Xiaoben. Each applying their own unique philosophy, these artists present to the audience a wide range of contrasting photos.

As the curator Wang Chuan stated at the opening, the artists invited have different identities; their experiences span different periods and their perspectives on photography – as well as their working methods – differ and collide.

// Runs until September 16. 11am-7.30pm from Monday to Friday, 9.30am-7.30pm from Saturday to Sunday. Bldgs E7/E9, Redtory.
