52 school busses worth RMB20m now used as public toilets in Anhui

At the beginning of the year, a businessman from Anhui purchased 52 bright yellow American-inspired school busses in the hopes to improve journeys to school in the city of Taizhou. His spend set him back RMB20 million (US$2.36 million) and would serve to shuttle students to and from the 14 schools in the city.

However, looks like someone didn’t do their market research. Nine of the schools in question already had their own bus service, while the others had no need for his fanciful thinking.

Nine months later and the pristine, unused busses are now sitting on equally unused land in Zhishengzhuang village, which will soon be used for construction. With reports that the empty busses have been used as toilets by nearby villagers, perhaps there will be a few (ahem) squatters that will have to be shifted too.
