To mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China, the Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou is teaming up with Shangri-La Hotel Guangzhou to present a culinary celebration like no other:

Chi 饭 (Fun) Le! 吃饭了!Kain Tayo! Flavors of the Philippines: A Culinary Tasting Experience,’ from June 6 to 15, 2025, at SEA Restaurant, 2nd floor of Shangri-La Hotel Guangzhou.

A Culinary Bridge Between Cultures

For 10 flavorful days, guests are invited on a gastronomic journey through the Philippines, exploring dishes from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao prepared by Guest Chef Hernan Christian A. De Jesus. 

More than a food festival, the event is a vibrant cultural exchange—where cuisine becomes a language of friendship.

Chef De Jesus brings time-honored recipes to the table, showcasing the multi-layered influences that make Filipino cuisine so distinct—rooted in native traditions and enriched by Chinese, Spanish, and Southeast Asian flavors.

What’s on the Menu? A Feast of Flavor

The curated tasting menu brings together beloved Filipino classics:

Appetizers

  • Okoy Fritters: Crispy shrimp and vegetable pancakes paired with spiced vinegar

  • Lumpiang Sariwa: Soft crepe rolls filled with sautéed vegetables, drizzled with a peanut-garlic sauce

Soup

  • Molo Soup: A heartwarming dumpling soup featuring pork, shrimp, and rich chicken broth

Main Courses

  • Kalderetang Baka: Hearty beef stew in tomato sauce with potatoes and peppers

  • Ginataang Hipon: Shrimp in coconut cream with squash and string beans

  • Chicken Inasal: Grilled chicken marinated in lemongrass and vinegar

  • Humba: Braised pork belly in sweet soy and garlic, with a hint of aromatic spice

  • Rellenong Alimasag: Crab shells stuffed with seasoned crabmeat and vegetables

All served with traditional steamed white rice.

Desserts

  • Leche Flan: Silky caramel custard

  • Buko Pandan: Coconut and pandan jelly in sweet cream
