Around 7am on Friday, November 29, a male driver in Guangzhou collided with a bike carrying three riders along with two nearby pedestrians, killing three and injuring two.

The incident occurred in Huadu district on Huadu Dadao and is still under investigation by local authorities. Huadu’s Public Security Bureau released a statement on Weibo following the incident, stating that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs while operating the vehicle. The driver, surnamed Gao, was said to be driving while fatigued, which led to the collision.

Gao, a 19-year-old Huadu native, is being detained by police while the investigation continues.

Netizens have expressed skepticism of the incident, with multiple commenters questioning whether the driver was on his way home after a late night of partying. As of press time, no further details have been provided regarding the incident.
