Forty-four people are injured after a school bus from Xianfeng Experimental School, in Guangzhou’s Baiyun District, rolled over in Foshan on November 13, according to a report by Yangcheng Evening News.

The accident occurred at around 9.52am, when the driver engaged in “improper operation” of the bus and hit a guard rail, causing the vehicle to flip over.

Forty students were injured in the accident, as well as three teachers and a tour guide, according to the report. The severity of the injuries ranged from scratches to fractured bones, and the wounded were immediately brought to Foshan Sanshui People's Hospital.

Many of the injured have since been transferred back to Guangzhou.

"Parents of wounded students found it inconvenient to be treated in Sanshui and required them to be transferred to Guangzhou. I accompanied them all overnight in an ambulance as they were transferred to the Second Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University,” the headmaster of Xianfeng Experimental School told reporters. “It was already 4am after the formalities of the transfer were completed."

The students were en route to Zhaoqing, a prefecture-level city west of Foshan, when the accident occurred. The bus driver is currently being investigated by traffic authorities.
