A Gansu man has been sentenced to one year in prison for spreading nude photos of his ex-girlfriend, a police officer, online.

The Lanzhou resident, surnamed Cao, was convicted of "spreading pornographic articles" by a court in the city's Xigu district. In addition to the prison sentence, Cao was ordered to pay 5,500 yuan ($902) compensation to his ex-girlfriend.

For almost a year, Cao uploaded numerous nude and sexual photographs (link NSFW) of his ex-girlfriend – an officer with the Lanzhou public security bureau – as "revenge" for her dumping him. The photos were widely disseminated on the Chinese web.
