A Chinese man was miraculously able to recover an expensive diamond ring after accidentally flushing it down an airplane toilet.
The man, surnamed Shen, was on a flight from Doha to Hangzhou on May 21 when he unfortunately dropped the two-carat diamond ring costing more than RMB300,000 in the toilet. After initially panicking, Shen pulled himself together and asked the staff at Hangzhou's Xiaoshan International Airport to help him search for his prized posession shortly after landing.
According to Hangzhou Daily, the cleaning personnel agreed to help Mr. Shen by checking a nearby sewage pool. However, scanning for the ring for a few hours barefoot in the dirty water with a metal detector produced no results.
But they didn't give up.
Wondering if the precious jewelry was still stuck in the plane, two airport staffers decided to pry open its holding tank. Lo and behold, they discovered the ring inside. They were able to use the flashlights on their phones to help recover the diamond in the rough.
They returned the ring to Shen, who was speechless when he finally got his diamond ring back. He thanked the two staffers, who said they still felt dirty after showering for over an hour.
