The highly-anticipated Universal Studios Beijing will be the largest ever Universal theme park. Construction on the park began in Tongzhou late last year, and it is now being reported that the massive project will bring 40,000 jobs to Beijing, China Daily reports.

The project will unfold in phases. During the first phase, roughly 8,000 to 10,000 people will be hired in the maintenance and service industries, according to Duan Qiang, chairman of Beijing Tourism Group.

The first phase is currently being constructed on 1.59 square kilometers in the Tongzhou area. This space will boast two hotels with over 1,200 rooms a piece. One will be a Universal hotel and the second will be a NUO hotel. A Universal CityWalk entertainment zone will also be built in this area.

The specifics regarding phases two and three, and the number of jobs they will create, have yet to be announced. However, according to Duan, all three phases of the project will sprawl over four square kilometers and cost RMB100 billion (USD14.46 billion).

Universal Studios Beijing was finally approved in September 2014 and is scheduled to open in 2020. It is estimated that the park will host 120 million tourists each year.
