It’s human nature to want to hold onto memorable items (anyone still have notes from college? Yeah, you’re never going to read those), but to fill a three-story house with garbage merely because you “enjoy collecting it”? Well, that’s hoarding on a whole other level.
At around 10am on February 24, 10 sanitation workers pulled up to the home of a 60-something woman surnamed Wu in Guangzhou after complaints that 1) her house smelled like sh*t and 2) garbage was literally pouring out of her windows and onto the sidewalk.
Citing numerous safety hazards, urban management officials ordered a sanitation team to clean Ms. Wu’s three-story home on Wenchang Bei Lu, which was chock-full of everything from broken water tanks, electric fans, brooms, plastic bags, iron woks and flower pots.
Ms. Wu’s daughter-in-law allegedly gave police and sanitation workers permission to enter, according to Tencent News.
After roughly one hour of cleaning, the first floor of the home was emptied. The most disturbing discovery? A cage of seven poodles pulled from beneath the garbage heap.
Standing by to watch the long-awaited trash collection, one of Ms. Wu’s neighbors, Mr. Zheng, told reporters the house had been “bursting with stench” for quite some time and that he hopes Ms. Wu will respect the neighborhood in the future by not stockpiling so much trash.
Seeing as though she wasn’t present at the clean-up, however, we have a feeling dear Ms. Wu will be in for a shock when she learns that her ‘treasures’ have been disposed of.
