A minivan sped into a crowd at a farmers market in Changping on Wednesday, killing at least four and injuring numerous others, Shanghai Daily reports.
The incident occurred around 3pm at a market in Machikou Township. The market was located on a stretch of road, where grocery vendors often set up food stalls in the afternoon.
According to witnesses, the minivan drove directly into the market area at a high speed and continued for about 100 meters.
The site was closed to the public on late Wednesday afternoon as workers cleaned the area up. It remains unclear whether or not the incident was intentional. The driver is currently in police custody and an investigation is ongoing.
