7 Places to Eat Valentine's Day Dinner

Here at That’s Beijing, we regret the notion that Valentine’s Day is inherently sad for singles. There are lavish steak dinners to be had! Who cares if you have a boyfriend or not?

Then again, we also regret the fact that this Valentine’s Day is a Sunday working day.

No matter. Chefs across town are pulling out all the stops for romantic dinner events. Is that worth a hungover Monday morning? Here’s a list of some of the best dinners – you decide.

The Georg

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: There aren’t many restaurants in Beijing where spending RMB1,000 per person feels like a great deal. But this is one of them. Beijing’s newest star of the fine-dining scene is offering a seven-course menu in its beautiful mansion. (Haven’t heard of it yet? See our recent review, here.)

6-10.30pm; RMB1,888 per couple, an additional RMB888 per person for champagne pairings; The Georg, see listing for details

Okra 1949

That’s Beijing’s 2015 Restaurant of the Year Okra is offering the ultimate Japanese menu including uni and jelly, Wagyu sashimi, New Zealand salmon, miso foie gras, suckling pig, a plate of chef’s choice nigiri and more.

6-10pm; RMB999 per couple plus 10-percent service charge; Okra 1949, see listing for details

Mosto

Mosto’s one of our favorites for top-notch dinners in a fun environment. V-Day is no exception – its four-course menu for the night features foie gras terrine, a surf-and-turf plate and profiterols. (If you're on a budget, Mosto's little sister MODO is offering a slightly more casual RMB388 set for two - also a good bet.)

6-10.30pm; RMB488 per person; Mosto, see listing for details

Migas

Bring on the meat at Migas, where you and your date will get a platter of Iberico steak after a round of creative appetizers.

5.30-10.30pm; RMB598 per couple or RMB888 per couple with a bottle of Anna de Codorniu sparkling wine; Migas, see listing for details

Niajo

Niajo is forever our favorite for authentic, classic Spanish food and wine. Have a five-course date night with chicken consommé, codfish and tuna tatare.

6-10.30pm; RMB498 per person; Niajo, see listing for details

Annie’s

Not looking to spend much? Beijing’s beloved chain is offering what is perhaps the best deal this Valentine’s Day. For RMB389 per couple, you’ll grab a four-course meal including pan-seared foie gras, king prawn risotto, a surf-and-turf main, and a dessert plate.

5.30-10pm; RMB389 per couple; Annie's, see www.annies.com.cn for more info

Feast

Lido lovers rejoice. Feast is offering a good-value meal of foie gras torchon, gravlax with brioche and – of course – a surf-and-turf-style main. Pavlova’s for dessert.

5.30-10pm; RMB521 per couple plus 15 percent service charge; Feast, see listing for details
