That's Tianjin picks the best thing to do in the city each month.

Apr 9 & 10: 'Wood Engraving' Exhibition

'Wood Engraving' is now on display at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA). This show is a collaborative effort between the printmaking departments of TAFA and CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing), with additional backing from the International Academic Printmaking Alliance (IAPA). After a series of symposia in CAFA late last year, this exhibition is now being held in Tianjin, in an unequivocal attempt to save a (supposedly) dying art form from extinction.

Mon Apr 9 & Tue Apr 10; free; Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA), see event listing.

Apr 11-14: Guest Chef Marco Tola @ The Ritz-Carlton

201804/2018-04-09-4_34_08.png
Inventive, modern Italian cuisine is coming to Tianjin straight from Italy this April, as celebrity chef Marco Tola showcases his unique creations at The Ritz-Carlton Tianjin. Invited by executive chef, Ornato Antunes, Tola brings his natural flair and creativity to this four-day event. Chef Tola was introduced to cooking through non-traditional means. Despite never learning his craft in a Michelin kitchen, Tola spent days studying and training himself, to eventually become one of the most famous celebrity chefs on social media. Different types of Italian cuisine will be on show, as the theme changes daily: Mediterraneo, Aqua, Mistero and Creativo. Do not miss the chance to sample a slice of innovative Italian cuisine, as well as hear from Chef Marco Tola himself.

Wed Apr 11- Sat Apr 14, 6.30-9.30pm; RMB688; The Ritz-Carlton, see event listing.

Apr 12-15: 'Boarding on the Pirate Ship'

Two impostors embark on a treasure hunt by disguising themselves as affluent youngsters on an arranged meeting. Featuring secret identities and humorous characters, the Mahua FunAge production is guaranteed to deliver seas of fun.

Thu Apr 12- Sun Apr 15, 7.30pm; RMB80-1080; Binhu Theater, see event listing.

Apr 22 & 29: 'Spanish Siesta' Brunch

Upgrade your Sunday by spending it at Rey de Gambas. Kicking off April 22, the Spanish joint is putting on a 'Spanish Siesta' brunch featuring authentic tapas and bottomless Spanish Cava for RMB150. Need we say more?

Every Sunday, 11am-2.30pm; RMB150; Rey de Gambas, see event listing.

Apr 30 - May 1: 'Two Dogs' Ideas About Life'

What happens when two opinionated dogs decide to leave their hometown to start a new life in the city? A lot of fun stuff, apparently. Meng Jinghui’s play has been charming China since 2008 with its ironic take on China’s all-too-familiar urbanization trend. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, so you may as well laugh it off.

Mon Apr 30–Tue May 1, 7.30pm; RMB100-580; Jinwan Grand Theater, see event listing. For tickets, visit piao.damai.cn.

Through May: 'Pink Lady' Afternoon Tea

This spring, The Westin Tianjin is offering a special ‘Pink Lady’ afternoon tea. Grab your best friends together and feast upon extravagant cakes by The Westin Tianjin Exchange Lounge chefs. A pink drink is also included.

Through May; Daily 2-6pm; RMB266/2 people, RMB178/2 people (advance, via WeChat ID: westintj); The Westin Tianjin, see event listing.
