On the morning of December 4, 2020, the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization National Children's Painting Exhibition with the theme of "Promoting the Shanghai Cooperation Culture and Building the Spirit of Shanghai" was held in Shanghai World Mart, the venue of the 24th Shanghai Art Fair.

Xia Jie, Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Women’s Federation, Vladimir Norov, Secretary-General of the SCO, Joshir Said Zoda, the Tajik Ambassador to China, the rotating chairman of the SCO, and SCO member states in China Envoys and others attended the event. SCO Secretary-General Norov stated that the SCO Secretariat has always supported the promotion of creative projects involving youth and children, aimed at consolidating friendship among the peoples of SCO countries, and promoting tolerance and respect for cultural diversity. "It is gratifying that the younger generation of SCO countries has shared the principle of mutual support since childhood and called for unity. At present, all countries in the world are interconnected, the virus knows no borders, and unity and cooperation are the weapons to defeat the epidemic. Through holding art exhibitions, children can understand The cultural diversity of the SCO countries awakens their interest in art, correctly understands current issues, strengthens friendship bridges, and promotes intergenerational dialogue."

To welcome the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the SCO, the SCO Secretariat will launch a series of cultural and sports activities in 2021, including the SCO National Children’s Art Exhibition, the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Youth Video Exhibition, the Beijing Expo SCO Honor Day and Shanghai Garden activities, etc., as well as SCO Marathon Series, SCO Yoga and Tai Chi Day, etc.

Tajikistan’s ambassador to China, Johir Said Zorda, the rotating chairman of the SCO, announced at the opening ceremony that 2021 is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the SCO. Tajikistan will host a series of colorful events together with the Shanghai Art Fair. Humanities exchange activities show the enthusiasm and expectation of the rotating chairmanship of the SCO, and promote the development of cultural exchanges within the framework of the SCO. "If circumstances permit, we will continue to hold children's art exhibitions."

The opening of this painting exhibition also heralds the full launch of the SCO Sports series with the theme of "Meet in 2022" to warm up the Beijing Winter Olympics: On December 6, the SCO Kunming Marathon will be launched online and offline. The 18 countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization held a grand ceremony. From Kunming, China, to Astana in Kazakhstan, to Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, the SCO Marathon series has been included in the declaration issued by the SCO Heads of State Summit three times. In addition, SCO’s 20th anniversary sports series such as SCO Yoga and Tai Chi Day, SCO Boxing Match, SCO University Student Football Cup and University President’s Forum will also be unveiled.
