From controversial food bans to tourists attacking Disney characters, it seems like there’s always some sort of drama going on at Shanghai Disney Resort. This time around 10 people are suspected of making and selling fake passes to the resort, Shine reports.

The suspects allegedly sold counterfeit ‘early entry passes’ to unassuming visitors for roughly RMB100 (USD14). However, it didn’t take long for police to realize something was up. This type of pass allows visitors to enter the park an hour earlier than everyone else. Early ticket holders enter through a different entrance. On July 18, police noticed that there were far more early visitors lined up than usual.

The visitors apparently bought the passes online and picked them up from the suspects at the park. The fake passes look like your average hotel room key card. But police noticed that many of the cards had no electronic chip and featured identical codes on the back.

Police arrested a man, surnamed Zhang, for selling the fake cards. He allegedly sold over 50 cards on July 18 and was carrying an additional 375. He sold RMB9,000 (USD 1,268) worth of fake passes from July 15 to 17. Police say that Zhang admitted to starting the business earlier this year and selling the counterfeit cards.

Two of the suspects are alleged to have handed out the cards. The rest are believed to have been involved in the online business. Five of the suspects have now been arrested by Pudong police.

Park officials say that staff were lax in verifying early entry passes. However, since this incident they are now carefully examining passes to make sure they are authentic.
